12:30 pm - Watching "Terror of Tiny Town" As a Western, it's not bad. I'll give it that. It has all of the formulaic writing of a typical Western without being stale. The only thing that sets it apart from other Westerns is its cast of Little People. I'll admit the acting isn't the best, but 1) I've seen worse acting from typical actors in Westerns, and 2) they were using who they could. Considering most of the actors went on to play Munchkins in the "Wizard of Oz", I'd say they did all right. As a comedy, it's OK. A chuckle here and there, but nothing really noteworthy. But, it does fit the qualifiers for a comedy - good guy wins and gets the girl. It's a niche film but I think it's pretty good so far for what it tried to be. 01:09 am - Thoughts on Naka-Kon 2013 Overall, it was all right. I was one of the fortunate ones who avoided the 3-hour long registration line on Friday.
I've never spent so much time in the game room at a con. I felt that 90% of the time, there was nothing to do. I went to two panels the entire weekend. Granted, most of Saturday morning in the game room was due to me watching NeoMordiki's things while he was in the YuGiOh tourney, but I did go to the dealer's room more times than usual.
The paneling just feel so empty. I'm too used to cons where I have to make so many decisions over what panels I go to when... this con, nada.
I was social and got to see a lot of my con friends, but I just feel like there were so many missed opportunities.
The upside is I learned a lot more about YuGiOh than I did before, and I got some good trades done for both YGO and MTG. But that was pretty much it.
It didn't help that Neo got the shaft on his panel (midnight to 1 am for Duelist Academy, so his co-host wasn't able to be there) and he lost his car keys on Friday (which were found and returned to him on Sunday before we left). So most of his weekend was filled with frustration. The good news is that his Reversal Quiz deck went 3-2 in the tourney and he was in the top 8.
I just feel like there need to be some serious changes made with Naka in the future. I'll go next year, but if it turns into another Anime Iowa, I just may have to skip it from that point on. :( Current Location: Apartment Current Mood: tired

09:24 pm Received an e-mail regarding an "administrative error" about my teaching certification program. Basically, they redid their policies and now only take undergrads, not post-grads. This would have been nice to know earlier. >:( I've emailed my adviser so I can figure out what do to from here. Current Location: Apartment Current Mood: annoyed Current Music: Movie - Duck Soup

06:27 pm - :( I talked to my adviser today. I stopped in because I was looking for someone's office, but instead, she went over my paperwork for the application to be accepted into the Teacher Education Program.
I need a GPA of 3.0 to submit my application. My current GPA is 2.9.
Long story short, I need to talk to a dept chair to see if he will even let me remain as a student.

12:17 pm Before I stopped working at RS, I bought a pad that sits under my computer to prevent all of the heat going into my lap.
It came with a fold-out rest for a mouse. I use it as a cup-holder.

11:45 pm - For those more knowledgeable than I So, I had an idea for a drink called The Power Ranger, which is actually a series of 5 shots. However, I am not as experienced with drinking as some of my peers, so I could use some ideas for tweaking this.
Black Rum
Pinky Vodka (or Kinky)
Blue Curacao (or Hpnotiq)
Yellow Chartreuse
Creme de Cassis or Cherry Pucker? Not sure about the Red Ranger.
I suppose one could follow this up by slamming a Monster, but I would not recommend it.
I’m also open to individual drink recipes, if anyone has one or two.
Thanks! Current Location: Apartment Current Music: South Park - Towelie

12:58 pm The house now has a Christmas tree... well, sort of. Due to lack of space and the cats' thievery, putting up a real tree wouldn't work. Instead, I found clip art of a Christmas tree online, printed it out, colored it with markers, and hung it on the wall above our end table in the living room. It's not much, but I think it works. :) Current Location: Apartment Current Mood: festive
